According to 50 CFR 15.3 [Title 50. Wildlife And Fisheries; Chapter I. United States Fish and Wildlife Service, Department of The Interior; Subchapter B. Taking, Possession, Transportation, Sale, Purchase, Barter, Exportation, and Importation Of Wildlife and Plants; Part 15. Wild Bird Conservation Act; Subpart A. Introduction and General Provisions], ‘indigenous’ means “a species that is naturally occurring, not introduced as a result of human activity, and that currently regularly inhabits or breeds in the 50 States or the District of Columbia.”
